Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre (IDHHC) provides services
and support for:
- Deaf individuals who use American Sign Language
(ASL) as their primary means of communication and are often
broadly referred to as the 'Deaf Community'.
- Families with Deaf or hard of hearing members.
- Late Deafened individuals who have lost their hearing late in
life, who are not helped by hearing aids, and have minimal or no
lip-reading or sign language skills and whose only means of
receptive communication is written language.
- Hard of Hearing individuals including those who are forced to
adjust their lives to accommodate a growing or sudden hearing
loss.
- Hearing individuals/groups who require information and training regarding hearing loss and deafness.
