"To enable individuals who are Deaf, hard of hearing or deafened to have full and active access, recognition and involvement in society".

Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre (IDHHC) provides services and support for:

  • Deaf individuals who use American Sign Language (ASL) as their primary means of communication and are often broadly referred to as the 'Deaf Community'.

  • Families with Deaf or hard of hearing members.

  • Late Deafened individuals who have lost their hearing late in life, who are not helped by hearing aids, and have minimal or no lip-reading or sign language skills and whose only means of receptive communication is written language.

  • Hard of Hearing individuals including those who are forced to adjust their lives to accommodate a growing or sudden hearing loss.

  • Hearing individuals/groups who require information and training regarding hearing loss and deafness.
